The End Is Near is a performance, sound and visual art installation that was presented at the Little Gallery of San Bernardino in February 2020.
The Jean Couteau installation aesthetic mimics the cheap advertising hellscape of North America with a funereal twist: cheap fans and black vinyl pennants, car radio assemblages, obsolete projectors, social media browsing smartphones, ASMR videos, and endless clapping from a MAGA rally will create an atmosphere of psychotic hypnosis parallel to the political-consumer sphere proper.
Totem objects representing Quebec’s cultural climate are decontextualized and integrated with things found in San Bernardino to create an environment rife with the psychosis and contradiction of our contemporary media-augmented reality.
